Meeting the Requirements
2. Canadian citizenship applicants must be physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days (three years) during the five years before the date of the application.
3. Prove your language skills (minors and adults above age 55 and older do not need to prove their language skills)
4. Filed your taxes
5. Pass a test on your rights, responsibilities and knowledge of Canada (Applicable for only those whithin ages 18-54)
6. Complete your Oath of Citizenship Ceremony
Prohibitions
- If you committed a crime in or outside Canada
- You are serving a term of imprisonment, parole, probation.
- You are serving a sentence outside of Canada
- You are under a removal order
- You are being investigated for war crimes or crimes against humanity
- You had your previous Citizenship application refused due to misrepresentation
- You have been convicted of an indictable offence (inside or outside Canada within the 4 years of your application)
If any of the above stated apply,
you may not eligible to become a Canadian Citizen for a period of time
Time spent serving a term of imprisonment, on parole, or on probation doesn’t count as time you’ve lived in Canada
